The class was able to visit the Morgan County Jail this morning where Adam Potter and Weston Crews gave them a tour of the facility. Students gained first-hand insight into the realities of the criminal justice system. Students walked through intake areas, cell blocks, and common spaces, observing the strict structure and limitations of daily life behind bars.

Students also learned about the important roles that keep the facility running safely and effectively. Correctional officers are responsible for supervising inmates, maintaining security, and enforcing facility rules. They conduct headcounts, manage movement within the jail, respond to incidents, and ensure the well-being of those in custody. Other professionals, such as medical staff, counselors, and administrative personnel, play key roles in supporting inmate health, legal processing, and rehabilitation programs.

Thank you so much to Adam, Weston, and staff for their time! And to Jamie Jackson for his surprise appearance and for always saying we can visit when we ask!
