The class attended the Farm Progress Show in Decatur last week and we could not have asked for a better day! The weather was great and the students learned a lot. The class was able to meet with John Deere and the Illinois Farm Bureau to learn about what they do and why they have exhibits at the Farm Progress Show.

Chad Passman, Public and Industry Relations Manager for John Deere, spoke to the students about John Deere’s focus of feeding the world and the challenges that presents. He also discussed the fact that John Deere employs more software engineers than mechanical engineers and what that means in terms of the importance of technology in today’s world.

Mark Reichert, Farm Bureau District 10 Director, also met with the students to discuss current issues the Farm Bureau is facing. He explained what the Farm Bureau is and what the grass roots organization does.

Thank you to Chad and Mark for their time and thank you to Marsha Awe for arranging our John Deere visit.
