THE PRINTED BOOK IS NOT DEAD!!! The class found that out this morning when they visited Bound to Stay Bound. Andy and Lori Smith hosted the students and explained what they do, told them about the history of the centennial business, and gave them a tour of the facility.

The family owned manufacturing business was founded in 1920 by Bob Siebert’s grandfather. Their mission is to produce quality, durable books to be used in schools and public libraries. They purchase books from publishers, remove the cover and rebind it with a durable, hard cover that can withstand being handled by large numbers of people.

Bound to Stay Bound’s 103 years in operation is a testament to the art of book binding and to the fact that people still want to hold a physical
book. Thank you, Andy and Lori, for your time today...and the donuts!
